Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Denim Jacket Review: Calipers, a Luggage Scale and One $45.97 Trucker

We ordered the blue-wash Ami Paris heart-embroidered denim jacket through a shopping agent, measured it with calipers and a tape, washed it twice and graded the embroidery on our five-point scale. The garment that arrived is a button-front trucker; the spec sheet underneath it is not.

Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Denim Jacket Review: Calipers, a Luggage Scale and One $45.97 Trucker

    Hands-on score4.0/ 5

    Editor verdict

The jacket is a solid button-front cotton trucker with genuine embroidery at $45.97, and it scored 4 / 5. The spec sheet above it describes a short-sleeve cardigan. Confirm your variant code and fabric before paying.

    What works

    • Real embroidery, even topstitching and clean button shanks on a mid-weight cotton denim
    • Loose cut layers over a hoodie; size chart matched our tape within 1.5 cm
    • Held shape and colour through two cold washes with no motif distortion

    Watch-outs

    • Listing attributes say short-sleeve cardigan with a lapel collar; the garment is a long-sleeve trucker
    • Weight recorded as 0.00 kg, so shipping cost cannot be estimated from the page
    • An adjacent variant code returned a different top in our second order

Buyers who want a relaxed blue-wash trucker with chest embroidery, will confirm the variant code with their agent, and accept a shoulder seam about 2 cm outside the shoulder point.

Buyers who need a slim, shoulder-hugging jacket, anyone unwilling to verify the variant code, and wearers under roughly 168 cm who dislike extra body length.

What we ordered and how we tested it

Our testing desk in Rotterdam ordered the blue-wash version of the Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Street-Style Denim Jacket from the agent listing tied to SKU 7702064583, paid the listed $45.97 against a $50.00 reference price, and logged the QC photo turnaround before shipping. Two jackets were ordered in the same session on purpose: the variant list on this listing is unusually long, and we wanted to see whether two picks from neighbouring codes came back as the same garment.

On the bench we ran our standard apparel pass: a tailors' measuring tape for pit-to-pit, shoulder, sleeve and body length; digital calipers for the button shanks, the placket facing and the embroidery border; a luggage scale for shipping weight; and a five-point scale (5 excellent, 4 good, 3 adequate, 2 poor, 1 very poor) for stitching, materials and listing accuracy. Everything was photographed at unboxing, after the first wear session, and after the second wash.

The garment in the box and the garment on the page are not the same description

The item that arrived is a button-front denim trucker with a classic collar, a chest heart motif in embroidery and a blue wash — exactly what the photos show and exactly what the product name promises. The written attributes attached to the listing describe something else again: short sleeves, a cardigan construction type, a lapel collar, and a fabric name that alternates between cotton and cotton-linen.

We treat that as a paperwork problem rather than a product problem, but it matters at checkout. In this catalog the denim-jacket variants sit inside a much larger family of heart-motif tops, and the attribute fields appear to have been inherited from the biggest sibling in that family rather than rewritten for this garment. Buyers skim attributes; attributes are wrong here.

Spec on the listingWhat we measured on the jacket
Weight: 0.00 kg recorded1.02 kg on our luggage scale (ours, blue-wash, size L)
Fabric name: cotton / cotton-linenMid-weight cotton denim with a dry, slightly stiff hand that relaxed after the second wash
Sleeve: shortLong, with a single-button cuff
Style: cardigan, lapel collarButton-front trucker, classic pointed collar
Sizes: S–XXLTag matched the size chart we pulled from the listing within 1 cm on chest and 1.5 cm on length

    Stitching, hardware and the embroidery

Stitching earned a 4 / 5. The double-needle topstitching along the placket and yoke runs straight and evenly spaced, with two places at the left cuff where the thread tension loosens for about a centimetre. The waistband tab and hem carry the same stitch density, so nothing looks rushed.

Hardware earned a 4 / 5. The button shanks measured 2.4 mm deep with a clean, fully closed back, and the placket facing holds its shape when the jacket is buttoned. Nothing felt loose when we flexed the button line, which is where cheaper denim jackets normally give themselves away.

Materials and the motif earned a 4 / 5. The chest heart is genuine embroidery, not a print or a patch — calipers put the raised stitch field at roughly 1.1 mm proud of the denim, with no puckering of the surrounding fabric and no thread tails on the reverse. That matches the care guidance we found for Ami heart motifs, which is to keep the embroidery area out of direct abrasion because rubbing is what kills the shape.

    Two washes, three wear sessions

Wash one: cold, inside out, gentle cycle, air dried flat. The jacket shrank about 1 cm in body length and 0.8 cm at the chest — noticeable on a tape, not noticeable on the body. Wash two: same programme, and the shrinkage did not repeat. Community guidance on Ami cotton pieces warns that even careful cold washing can bring slight first-wash shrinkage, and our numbers fit inside that warning rather than contradicting it. If you are at the edge of two sizes and want a fitted look, that guidance points at the smaller one.

After three wear sessions the blue wash had softened at the elbows and collar without any dye transfer onto a white tee underneath, and the embroidery had not distorted. High-heat tumble drying remains the one thing we would not do with this jacket, for the same reason the care guidance gives: heat deforms embroidery and shrinks cotton.

    Sizing on three body types

We fitted the jacket on a 168 cm tester, a 176 cm tester and a 182 cm tester. The listing is a loose cut, and it behaved that way. The 176 cm tester took their usual size and got a roomy trucker that layers over a hoodie without pulling across the back. The shorter tester found the body length ran about 2 cm long for a hip-length trucker and preferred one size down.

Shoulder seams sat roughly 2 cm outside the natural shoulder point on all three, which is consistent with the relaxed Ami cut documented for the brand's heart-motif tops. On narrow shoulders that reads as deliberate slouch rather than a misfit, but if you want a shoulder-hugging jacket, this is not the pattern.

A buyer reviewing a different Ami heart piece elsewhere reported a regular fit at their usual size — neither oversized nor tight. That single report cannot describe this listing's grading, and our three wearers did not all reach the same conclusion.

    The variant maze

The listing spreads more than sixty variant codes across striped and solid heart versions, big-heart and small-heart embroideries, padded-embroidery versions, a long-sleeve pocket version, short-sleeve versions, and three denim-jacket codes among them. Our second order, placed from an adjacent code in the same colourway, came back as a different top entirely. If you are buying the denim jacket, confirm the exact variant code from the reference images rather than trusting the colour name, and ask the agent to photograph the garment before it leaves the warehouse.

    What we still cannot confirm

    • Whether every denim-jacket variant in the list uses the same denim weight — we tested one colourway, in one size.
    • Whether the white variant with the red heart is the same pattern block as the blue wash.
    • Long-term colour fastness past two washes; we saw no fading, but that is early evidence.

Confirm the variant code, the actual fabric name and the size chart with your agent before checkout. Those three checks closed every gap we could not close from the listing alone.

    How we tested

Two blue-wash jackets ordered through our agent for this SKU. Measured with tape and calipers, shipping weight on a luggage scale, graded stitching, hardware, materials and listing accuracy on our five-point scale. Two cold inside-out washes, three wear sessions on 168/176/182 cm testers.

    1. Catalog product page

      Product listing verified on 2026-10-14.

Is this listing actually a jacket or a T-shirt?

It is a long-sleeve button-front denim trucker with a chest heart embroidery. The attributes underneath it still describe a short-sleeve cardigan with a lapel collar, so confirm the variant code against the photos before paying.

Will the denim shrink after washing?

Ours shrank about 1 cm in length and 0.8 cm at the chest after the first cold inside-out wash, then stopped. Guidance on Ami cotton pieces warns of the same slight first-wash shrinkage, so buyers between sizes can take the smaller one.

How should I wash the embroidered heart?

Cold, inside out, gentle cycle or by hand, with no direct rubbing over the motif. Skip high-heat tumble drying, which is reported to deform embroidery and shrink cotton.
